Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Circuitry (“we”, “us”), which operates the website circuitrywired.com, handles information about visitors. We keep it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, contact us and we will explain it.

1. What we collect

We collect very little directly. There is no account system on this site, no newsletter sign-up wall, and no tracking pixel that we control beyond the analytics described below.

Information you give us. If you use the form on our contact page, we receive the name, email address and message you type. We use it only to reply to you.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting provider records standard server data when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic measurement.

Information collected by third parties. Our advertising and analytics partners set their own cookies and collect their own data. This is the largest category, and it is described in sections 3 and 4.

2. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Cookies on this site fall into three groups:

3. Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. The following disclosures are required by Google and are accurate for this site:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland

Where consent is required, ads are served only after you make a choice in the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline personalised advertising, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised and based only on general context such as the page you are reading. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies and reloading the page.

4. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which articles people read and which devices they read on. We look at totals and trends, not individuals. We do not attempt to identify any visitor, and we do not sell, rent or trade any visitor data.

5. Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never determine our conclusions, and any article containing such links says so at the top. Retailers may set their own cookies when you follow an affiliate link.

6. Your choices and how to opt out

Personalised ads: Google Ads Settings or optout.aboutads.info.
All cookies: your browser's privacy settings, or private/incognito browsing.
Do Not Track: browsers send this signal inconsistently and there is no agreed standard for honouring it, so we do not claim to respond to it. Use the opt-outs above instead — they work.

7. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us through the contact page. We respond within 30 days. Note that for data held by Google as an advertising partner, requests are best directed to Google through the settings links in section 3, since we have no access to it.

8. Retention and security

Contact-form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and are then deleted. Server logs are rotated by our hosting provider on its standard schedule. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially we update the “last updated” date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
